about

One person, one registered studio, one hard problem at a time.

Chisomo Psyelera

Founder & sole engineer, PsyByte Labs

PsyByte Labs started from a specific, unglamorous problem: watching teachers spend entire afternoons tallying exam scores by hand, re-ranking a class of 160 students on paper every time a single mark changed. That became Koticha -- and it set the template for how this studio approaches everything since: find the one workflow quietly costing someone hours every week, and build the narrowest possible tool that removes it, for the hardware they actually have.

PsyByte Labs is a genuinely small operation -- currently a team of one. That's a deliberate constraint as much as a starting point: every product ships because one person understood the problem end to end, not because it survived a committee.

registered business

PsyByte Labs is registered as a business in Malawi. In practice that means engagements can be invoiced properly, agreements can be signed as a business rather than an individual, and pilots with schools, NGOs, or other organizations can move forward on formal footing. It is a registered business, not yet an incorporated company -- a distinction PsyByte Labs is upfront about, and one that will change as the studio grows.
